TVS Apache RTS X supermoto bike patented — launch on cards?

If and when launched, TVS RTS X will compete with the recently launched KTM 390 SMC R, the only other supermoto bike in the mass market.

TVS is the third-largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the country and has a wide range of models in its lineup. The brand has a rich legacy of motorsports and racing but it is yet to venture into adventure and trail sports. A couple of months ago, TVs patented its first adventure touring motorcycle.

A prototype of the same was soon spotted testing. Now, the Hosur-based manufacturer has patented another motorcycle, this time a supermoto. TVS has patented the Apache RTS X which was showcased as a concept earlier this year at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. From the first glance, the patent image looks very familiar to the concept.

TVS Apache RTS X: Expected details

Just like the concept, the patent of TVS Apache RTS X looks like a machine from a Hollywood sci-fi movie with flat and pointy fascia. It cannot be made out if the flat panel is the headlamp or not. If not, then it can be safely assumed that the bike is still at a concept stage. Handlebars are tall and upright, giving the motorcycle a commanding stance. The fuel tank is nestled within the bodywork with extended shrouds lending the bike a sharp appeal.

Other visual highlights include a flattish single-piece saddle, a beak up front, and a small rectangular screen for instrumentation. The RTS X stands on a pair of slicks which suggests its focus stays on streets and race tracks. The thick upside down front forks are expected to be borrowed from the upcoming Apache RTX adventure tourer. However, unlike the latter, the supermoto rides on slightly smaller wheels. At the rear, the Apache RTS X gets a conventional mono-shock along with a fancy swingarm.

In its production version, the Apache RTS X will derive its energy from TVS’ newly in-house developed 299cc, liquid-cooled RTX D4 engine which was unveiled in December 2024. This motor is capable of churning out 35 bhp and 28.5 Nm of peak torque. Power will be transferred to the rear wheels via a 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch.

The concept shown at the Expo earlier this year weighed 144 kg kerb and could accelerate from 0 to 60 kmph in 2.8 seconds and 100 kmph in 6.3 seconds. There is no word from TVS on a prospective launch date of this motorcycle yet.
