Royal Enfield is working on a more hardcore version of the Himalayan and the motorcycle was expected to be launched in India in 2027, however, as per new reports, the Royal Enfield Himalayan Raid could be launched as early as next year itself. Currently, the Himalayan is the most capable off-roader in the bike maker’s lineup, and with the Raid version, the company is looking at taking the game more seriously.

Royal Enfield Himalayan Raid — What is it?

Codenamed K1X internally, the Royal Enfield Himalayan Raid is being developed by the company’s R&D team in India and the UK, alongside its racing team and Indian off-road champion CS Santosh. With the launch of the Himalayan Raid, Royal Enfield is looking to take the fight directly to KTM, in India and globally.

The new Royal Enfield Himalayan Raid will be based on the same motorcycle and will also feature most of its parts, however, the suspension will be more upmarket with adjustability, and the motorcycle could also get longer suspension travel and ground clearance. The motorcycle could also get other bits that are currently sold as an accessory as standard equipment, such as tubeless spoke wheels and the rally seat.

The engine could also likely see a bump in power, as the 450cc liquid-cooled engine is capable of more. Currently, the Royal Enfield Himalayan’s motor makes 40bhp and 40Nm of torque with the help of a six-speed gearbox. With competition coming from KTM, Kove, CFMoto, and BMW among others, Royal Enfield will have a tough battle globally.
