Like many other legacy OEMs, Royal Enfield will also set foot into the world of EVs very soon under its new subsidiary brand named Flying Flea – a homage to the World War II era motorcycle with the same name. The first prototype under the Flying Flea range called C6 first broke cover at EICMA 2024 in Milan, Italy last November.

Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6: Styling inspired by WWII machine

Even before actually hitting the roads, the Flying Flea C6 has earned a feather on its cap. The C6 has won the prestigious Red Dot Award, under the ‘Design Concept’ category. The design of the Flying Fly C6 takes inspiration from the original Flying Flea that was purpose-built for use during WWII.

The original Flying Flea motorcycles were parachuted into battlefields to offer soldiers lightweight, all-terrain mobility. Reviving that same spirit of lightness, agility, and versatility, the Flying Flea brand now returns as a link between Royal Enfield’s heritage and its electric future. Codenamed Electrik01, this upcoming model will be built on the company’s newly developed “L” platform, which will also underpin a range of future EVs being co-developed with Spanish electric two-wheeler specialist Stark Future SL.

Commenting on the milestone, Sivakumar S, Head – Industrial Design, Flying Flea and Royal Enfield Electric Vehicles, said, “Every line and every detail of the Flying Flea C6 is a deliberate expression of that belief—where tradition meets future, and technology serves emotion as much as function. To see our vision recognized with the Red Dot Award is both an honor and an encouragement, and it reinforces our path: building machines that inspire all of us to live lightly and redefine how people experience City+ mobility.”

Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6: Design & Features

Compared to the current-gen Enfields, the electric bike looks lean and taut instead of bulky. Interestingly, the bike comes as a single-seater in the pre-production much like the original Flying Flea. Other visual highlights include an aluminium swingarm, alloy wheels, round mirrors along with relatively thin tyres.

On the features front, the Flying Flea C6 gets LED lighting and LED turn signals. Apart from that it gets a fully digital TFT circular instrument console which packs Bluetooth connectivity and navigation. Although the entire list of features is yet to be decoded, we expect the reincarnated Flying Fly to offer amenities like traction control, and ride modes.
