Royal Enfield has its plate full with upcoming products in the 350cc, 450cc and 650cc categories. In the entry-level 350cc range, the Chennai-based bikemaker retails four models currently including Classic, Bullet, Meteor, and Hunter. The brand will add at least one more model to this category in the form of the upcoming bobber.
The upcoming 350cc bobber has been spied testing on several occasions over the past year or so on Indian roads. Now, Enfield has officially filed design patents for the motorcycle. An image of the patent has gone viral on the internet and looks very familiar to the test mules spotted earlier.
Royal Enfield 350cc Bobber: Design
While most of the design is retained from the Classic 350, there are certain visual elements which give it a distinct appeal. For example, the handlebars are very tall and pulled inwards towards the rider, just like a true bobber. Further, the bike is expected to come as a standard single-seater but in the patent the bike gets an add-on pillion seat, similar to the one seen in Shotgun 650.
The removable pillion seat is mounted on the rear subframe which could also double up the subframe as a tail rack. The pillion seat is accompanied by split grab rails. Aided by forward-set footpegs, the bike is set to offer a comfortable lean back riding posture but not like a full-fledged cruiser. The bike stands on wire-spoked 18-inch wheels with white painted side walls.
Other visual highlights include a round headlamp with tiger-eyed position lamps, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, triangular side panels, a broad rear fender, and a side-on parallel exhaust. Overall, the bike gives out the appearance of a traditional American chopper.
