Kawasaki has launched the updated Versys in India, the 1100, at Rs 12.90 lakh, ex-showroom. The new Kawasaki Versys 1100 replaces the Versys 1000, however, it is almost a lakh cheaper than the litre-class Versys, which had a last recorded price of Rs 13.91 lakh, ex-showroom. The new Versys has a ton of changes with the engine compared to the motorcycle it replaces, and here are more details.

New Kawasaki Versys 1100 — What’s new?

On the design front, the new Versys 1100 looks identical to the Versys 1000, however, there are minor updates to the hardware it packs. The new Versys 1100 gets larger disc brakes compared to the 1000 and also gets a type C charging port. That said, the motorcycle rides on USD forks, a monoshock at the rear, 17-inch wheels, and gets a semi-analogue instrument cluster.

The biggest change is the engine — it is now larger. The engine is a 1099cc, inline four-cylinder unit as opposed to the 1043cc unit. Kawasaki has increased the stroke, given it more compression, added a heavier flywheel, made the intake funnels longer inside the airbox, made the intake ports narrower, and given it new camshafts with reduced lift. The result of all this is an increase in power and the motorcycle now makes 133bhp and 112.5Nm of torque.

The new Versys 1100 gets a decent electronics package along with cruise control and with the increase in power and reduced price, Kawasaki seems serious about the Versys 1100 in India. Bookings for the Versys 1100 have commenced across Kawasaki dealerships in India.
