Triumph has genuinely left everyone in shock with the pricing of the Triumph Speed 400 — Rs 2.23 lakh ex-showroom. However, this pricing is for the first 10,000 customers and post which, it will be priced at Rs 2.33 lakh, ex-showroom. The Triumph Speed 400 will be available in showrooms by the end of this month.
The Triumph Scrambler 400’s pricing will be announced later this year, around October when the motorcycle will be available at Triumph dealerships. The pricing comes at a time when Harley-Davidson announced similarly competitive pricing for the X440 at Rs 2.29 lakh.
The Triumph Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400X will be powered by a 398cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that makes 39.5bhp and 37.5Nm of torque. The engine will be paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch.
Both motorcycles will be built by Bajaj in India and feature premium components such as USD forks, adjustable rear monoshock, traction control, alloy wheels, semi-digital instrument cluster disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS, and more. Bookings for the motorcycle are open.
The Triumph Speed 400 will compete with the KTM 390 Duke, BMW G 310 GS, Bajaj Dominar, Royal Enfield 350cc range, and the Jawa Yezdi models in India.

Bajaj can make 25,000 bikes a month in its plant, including KTM and Triumph. 5,000 units dedicated to Triumph. Triumph is looking at exports from this year end and is looking at 20,000 to 30,000 units. The motorcycles will be sold through Triumph dealerships only.
Bajaj and Triumph have been in touch from 2007 and developments began in 2016. The development of the new 400 twins have been ongoing for a long time says Rajiv Bajaj.
The Speed 400 will be available in showroom this month while the Scrambler 400 will be available in October.
Bajaj has worked hand-in-hand with Triumph in engineering, testing, and development of the Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X. The bikes will be built in India by Bajaj and in Thailand and Brazil by Triumph.

The biggest pinch for many owning premium motorcycles is when it comes to service. Most premium bikes have a 5,000 to 10,000km interval, however, with the Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X, the service interval is 16,000km.
The Triumph-Bajaj duo will offer more products in the Indian market and globally, but for now, they will concentrate on the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400X.
The two 400 twins, Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X are entry-level premium motorcycles. They do get good hardware, but localised and are being built by Bajaj. If Triumph manages to keep the pricing around Rs 3 lakh ex-showroom, the company can have hot-selling products in India.
