The middle-weight motorcycle segment has grown over the years, in terms of popularity and displacement. Two of the most popular middle-weight motorcycles in India are the Kawasaki Z900 and the Triumph Street Triple 765. Both have their unique fan following and for 2024, Kawasaki has updated the Z900.

It is always a daunting task to choose between a three-cylinder motorcycle and a four-cylinder motorcycle, and the saying “there is no replacement for displacement” keeps ringing in one’s ear. However, let’s take a closer look at the specifications of both motorcycles to help you decide.

Kawasaki Z900 vs Triumph Street Triple

The two motorcycles have been on sale for a while now in India, but they have both seen updates over the years. The Kawasaki Z900, in its current status, gets adjustable suspension at both ends, 17-inch wheels, LED lighting, a TFT dash with smartphone connectivity, riding modes, traction control, dual-channel ABS, and more.

The Triumph Street Triple gets similar, but top-shelf equipment. The Street Triple gets Showa fully adjustable suspension for the front and rear, Brembo monoblock callipers, cornering ABS, wheelie control, and a quickshifter amongst others. In terms of equipment, the Street Triple gets more.

Kawasaki Z900 vs Triumph Street Triple: Engine specifications

Both motorcycles use different engine setups to deliver the best to a rider, The Kawasaki Z900 uses an inline-four setup, while the Triumph uses an inline three-cylinder unit, thus the name ‘Triple’. Both motorcycles are tuned for everyday usability in the city or open roads, aided by a 6-speed gearbox.

The specifications comparison shows that the Kawasaki has an advantage when it comes to displacement, power, and torque, while the Street Triple is lighter. That said, the Z900 also has an advantage in terms of cost compared to the Triumph.
