Maxi scooters are gaining popularity in India slowly, especially after Yamaha launched the Aerox 155 in India, and in recent times, Hero MotoCorp with the Xoom 160. Now, Honda wants in as well, and as per a report by Autocar India, the Japanese manufacturer is readying to launch a 160cc maxi scooter in India soon, codenamed K4LA.
Honda 160cc maxi scooter — What do we know so far?
Honda is likely to launch a scooter based on the ADV160 that is sold in other global markets and as per the report, the Honda ADV160 is likely to be launched in India in 2026. Similar to the Aerox 155 and the Xoom 160, the Honda ADV160 will have no storage facility on the floorboard, however, the Honda will have a 27-litre storage under the seat.
The Honda ADV160 features a split headlight design, a large windscreen, and a single-piece seat with a step-up design. The Honda ADV160 is suspended by telescopic front forks, dual rear shocks, a disc brake at the front with a single-channel ABS, a drum brake at the rear, and a TFT instrument console. The scooter rides on a 14-inch front and 13-inch rear wheel combination, unlike the Aerox and Xoom 160, which run 14-inch wheels front and rear.
Honda ADV160 — Engine specifications and competition check
The Honda ADV160 is powered by a 157cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine mated to a CVT gearbox. The engine makes 16bhp and 15Nm of torque. As mentioned earlier, the Honda ADV160 will compete with the Hero Xoom 160 and Yamaha Aerox in India, both of which are powered by liquid-cooled single-cylinder engines.
