Honda bikes USA has issued a recall on 11,424 units of CBR300R and CB300F. It has been reported that the bikes covered under these notice are facing problems due to crankshaft, which hasn’t been machined properly. This can lead to the failure of rod bearing, giving rise to the possibility of engine stall which can potentially cause a crash.

On the issue of recall, Honda has issued a statement which states, “The crankshaft may have been improperly machined, which increases the load on the connecting rod bearing. The increased load, combined with high pressure and speed on the connecting rod bearing retainer, may prematurely wear the plating of the connecting rod bearing retainer and, in the presence of blow-by gases, cause it to corrode. The combination of these conditions can cause the connecting rod bearing retainer to prematurely wear or break.”

The Japanese two-wheeler maker will contact the owners of the affected bikes and the recall process will start by the end of this month. The owners will have to take their bike to the service station and the part will be replaced free of cost.
