The two industry heavyweights in the two-wheeler sector, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India and Suzuki India, are making their entry into the electric vehicle market. Honda has already launched the highly anticipated Activa e: at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, while Suzuki has unveiled the e-Access, which is set to make its debut soon. Here’s everything you need to know about these two upcoming electric scooters.
Honda Activa e vs Suzuki e Access: Battery specs and Range
Both Japanese manufacturers have taken unique approaches to the electric two-wheeler segment. The Activa e from Honda features swappable battery technology, with two 1.5 kWh batteries neatly tucked under the seat. Powered by a swingarm-mounted motor delivering 6 kW of power and 22 Nm of torque, the Activa e can accelerate from 0 to 60 kmph in just 7.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 80 kmph. Honda claims the scooter offers a range of 102 km and offers three riding modes: Econ, Standard, and Sport. The batteries can only be charged at Honda’s exclusive Power Pack Exchanger e: battery swapping stations. As part of its infrastructure plans, Honda intends to set up approximately 250 battery-swapping stations in Bengaluru by 2026.
The Suzuki e-Access, in contrast, is equipped with a fixed LFP battery offering a capacity of 3.07 kWh and a swingarm-mounted motor that delivers 4.1 kW of power and 15 Nm of torque. Suzuki claims the e-Access can reach a top speed of 71 kmph and features three riding modes. In terms of charging, the e-Access battery takes 4 hours and 30 minutes to charge from 0 to 80 per cent, while a full charge takes approximately 6 hours and 42 minutes. However, with the fast charging option, the battery can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in 1 hour and 12 minutes, and a full charge takes 2 hours and 12 minutes.
