For many, the term ‘Hero vs Honda’ seems strange, as they are more familiar with ‘Hero Honda’. Moving on, the two companies split their partnership ages ago and have become rivals in the Indian market, with Hero leading sales. June 2025 two-wheeler sales saw the Indian manufacturer lead the Japanese two-wheeler maker by a big margin.
Hero vs Honda — What are the sales numbers?
Hero MotoCorp sold a total of 5.53 lakh two-wheelers in June 2025, registering a YoY growth of 10 percent compared to June 2024, when the two-wheeler maker sold 5.03 lakh units. During the same period, Honda sold 4.29 lakh two-wheelers. In comparison, Hero managed to sell 29 percent more than Honda in June 2025.
For Hero MotoCorp, motorcycle sales accounted for 5.12 lakh units, and scooters registered sales of 41,305 units. For Honda, the company has not revealed a segment-wise breakup; however, the Activa is the best seller for the Japanese brand, while for Hero, it is the Splendor.
When it comes to exports, Honda leaves Hero in the dust, as the Japanese two-wheeler maker exported 40,335 units last month while Hero’s exports accounted for 28,827 units.
Hero vs Honda — New product launches
Hero launched a slew of new products this year, which included the updated Xoom 125, the new Xoom 160 maxiscooter, the new XPulse 210, and the Xtreme 250R. While these models don’t account for a large chunk os sales, it gives Hero a balance between its commuters and the premium segment.
Honda updated its product range as well, however, most of the recent updates were with the premium offerings — updated Transalp 750, the four-cylinder 650 twins with an e-clutch, the Hornet 750 and the CB1000 Hornet SP. While premium motorcycles account for an extremely small amount of sales for Honda, the Activa and commuter motorcycles are what bring in the numbers.
