BMW Motorrad has officially announced the pre-launch bookings for the F900 GS and F900 GS Adventure in India ahead of their launch which is expected to take place sometime later this month. The German brand has already started teasing the twin ADVs on its social media handles.

Earlier this year, the two-wheelers arm of the Bavarian automaker launched the R1300 GS in India which opened to positive response. The new F900 GS range will be a direct replacement for the outgoing F850 GS.

Both these motorcycles will be available as fully-imported Completely Built-Up (CBU) models and can be booked at any official BMW Motorrad showroom. While the F900 GS is a proper hardcore adventure bike, the F900 GS Adventure is a more touring friendly option. Both bikes are powered by an 895cc twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which has been derived from the older 853cc unit offered in the F850 GS.

The new engine produces 103 bhp and 93 Nm of peak torque, a bump of 10 bhp and 1 Nm. Both motorcycles boast an extensive array of advanced electronic rider aids, including customizable riding modes, power modes, traction control, ABS, and a bidirectional quick-shifter. These cutting-edge features are seamlessly integrated and easily accessible via the intuitive 6.5-inch TFT display, a standard feature shared across many large-capacity BMW models. Other features include LED lights, a keyless ignition, traction control, etc.

In terms of hardware, the F900 GS and the F900 GSA have the same 21 front and 18-inch rear wheel sizes and the same suspension travel. However, the GS weighs 219bkg with its 14.5-litre tank full. At 246 kg, the F 900 GSA is a substantial 27 kilos heavier than the F900 GS.

The outgoing BMW F 850 GS and F 850 GSA are priced at Rs 12.95 lakh and Rs 13.75 lakh, respectively. We expect the upcoming F900 GS range to be slightly more expensive. When launched, the new BMW F900 GS range will compete against Triumph Tiger 900, Honda XL750 Transalp, and KTM 890 Adventure R.
