BMW Motorrad launched India’s most expensive electric two-wheeler, the CE 04, at Rs 14.90 lakh, ex-showroom. This premium EV scooter is a completely built-up unit (CBU) and will be available in selective cities. The bookings for the CE 04 are open and the deliveries will begin in September. Here are five things about BMW’s first electric scooter for the Indian market.

Bookings for the CE 04 are currently open, and deliveries are set to commence in September. Below are five key points about BMW’s first electric scooter in the Indian market.

BMW CE 04: Design

The CE 04 looks like a vehicle straight from a sci-fi movie. With its elongated side profile with a floating seat, the EV scooter makes quite a statement with a bulky front apron with massive side panels and dual headlamps with LED DRLs. BMW has designed the rear to be open, showcasing the mono-shock and the rear wheel’s mudguard, with the foot pegs for the rear passenger cleverly integrated.

The CE 04 is available in two colour options. The base variant comes in Light White and the optional Avantgarde version in Imperial blue metallic colour. The Style Avantgarde mode also features a tinted windshield and an orange seat.

BMW CE 04: Specs and Battery

The BMW CE 04 stands out due to its innovative technology. It features a permanent magnet electric motor positioned within the frame, adjacent to the battery. This liquid-cooled motor delivers 41 bhp and 62 Nm of torque. BMW claims the electric scooter accelerates from 0 to 50 kmph in just 2.6 seconds and can reach a maximum speed of 120 kmph. The CE 04 offers a range of 130 km and includes three riding modes: Eco, Rain, and Road.

The 8.5 kW battery pack can charge 0 – 80 per cent in 3 and a half hours with the standard 2.6 kW charger and just over an hour with a 6.9 kW fast charger.

Based on a steel double-loop frame, the CE 04 has a wheelbase of 1,675 mm. The front forks offer a travel of 110 mm, and the rear suspension has 92 mm of travel. It is equipped with 15-inch wheels at both the front and rear, with the front wheel having dual 265 mm disc brakes and the rear wheel having a single 265 mm disc brake. The BMW electric scooter has a seat height of 780 mm, with the option to choose a higher 800 mm saddle. The scooter’s unladen weight stands at 231 kg.

BMW CE 04: Features

The CE 04 is a true blue BMW and gets loads of features like the massive 10.25-inch TFT instrument cluster. This cluster offers a split display that accommodates both digital and analogue setups. It displays performance data, range, charging time, favourite music tracks, upcoming destinations, or phone calls. Additionally, the electric scooter boasts a watertight and ventilated storage compartment for secure mobile phone storage and charging capabilities, courtesy of a USB-C port and a 12V socket. Enhancing both convenience and safety, the scooter is outfitted with keyless ignition and ABS.

BMW CE 04: Price

At Rs 14.90 lakh, the CE 04 is the country’s priciest electric two-wheeler. In the luxury market, customization and optional packages are vital, and the CE 04 follows suit. BMW presents two optional packages: the Comfort Package, which includes heated grips and a comfortable seat with a backrest, and the Dynamic Package, featuring Riding Modes Pro, Headlight Pro, ABS Pro, Adaptive Headlights, and Daytime Riding Light.
