Bajaj Pulsar N160 single-channel ABS discontinued

Bajaj Pulsar N160

The Pulsar lineup is the mainstay for Bajaj Auto with almost a dozen models offered in this range. The new generation Pulsars have generally been well received for their overall built quality, reliability and engine refinement. Among the new-gen Pulsars, the N160 is one of the most popular models on sale.

Launched last year, the Pulsar N160 offers a good balance between a commuter and a sporty motorcycle. Initially available in two variants including single-channel ABS and dual-channel ABS, a recent media report reveals that the Chakan-based bikemaker has decided to discontinue the former.

Bajaj Pulsar N160 prices, specs

Dealer sources have confirmed that Bajaj has pulled the plug on the single-channel ABS variant of N160. Initially, the single-channel ABS variant was priced at Rs. 1,22,854 whereas the dual-channel ABS version was priced at Rs 1,27,853 (both ex-showroom). With a price gap of barely Rs 5,000, maximum number of buyers opted for the latter, leading to a significant drop in demand for the single-channel ABS version.

Consequently, Bajaj made the strategic decision to discontinue the single-channel ABS variant a few months ago. Presently, Bajaj Pulsar N160 is exclusively available with a dual-channel ABS, priced at Rs. 1,30,560 (ex-showroom). It is offered in three colour options– Brooklyn Black, Racing Red and Caribbean Blue, all with an identical price tag.

Powering the Pulsar N160 is a 164.82cc, single-cylinder, air-oil-cooled engine that produces 15.7 bhp and 14.65 Nm of peak torque. This motor is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. It competes against the likes of TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Hero Xtreme 160R 4V, Yamaha FZ-S Fi V3.0, and Suzuki Gixxer.
