Aprilia seems to be ready to update its most popular product in India, the SR 160 scooter. As per an Autocar India report, Aprilia has dispatched the new SR 175 scooters to select dealerships ahead of its official launch in July. So, what updates does the SR 175 get compared to the current SR 160? Here are more details.

New Aprilia SR 175 — What are the updates?

Going by the pictures shared by Skelism the overall design of the scooter is similar to the outgoing SR 160, featuring a sharp, sporty design with an upswept exhaust and a sharp front. It retains the split headlight setup in the front apron and the blinkers mounted on the handlebar.

The scooter also retains its cycling parts — telescopic front forks, a single rear shock, a disc brake at the front, alloy wheels, and LED lighting. The scooter retains its 14-inch wheel setup as well, which gives it excellent handling capabilities for a scooter.

Now, coming to what’s new compared to the SR 160. The first update is a TFT instrument display, a unit similar to the ones seen on the RS 457 and the Tuono 457. The layout is different, but it gets phone connectivity features, and the report also says that the layout is customisable.

The next big update is obvious — the engine. The new Aprilia SR 175 gets a 174.7cc, air-cooled single-cylinder engine mated to a CVT gearbox. The engine makes 12.9bhp and 14Nm of torque compared to the SR 160’s 11.2bhp and 13Nm of torque. Aprilia has achieved this by boring out the existing engine.
