Harley Davidson started its second innings in the Indian market with the launch of the X440 earlier in July this year. Manufactured by Hero MotoCorp and co-developed at the latter’s CIT facility in Jaipur, the X440 competes against the multiple mid-displacement premium motorcycles from Royal Enfield, Jawa, and Honda.
Now, Hero MotoCorp has announced that it has delivered over 1,000 units of the X440 in India. Deliveries of the X440 started on October 15. The company claims more than 25,000 bookings were made within just a month of its official debut.
Speaking on the same, Niranjan Gupta, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Hero MotoCorp, said, “It will be our endeavour to complete all deliveries over the next 4-5 months. Our supply chain is already in the process of ramping up the capacity, as we would like to serve every single customer in India who wants to own a Harley Davidson and reduce the waiting period moving forward.”
Harley Davidson X440 bookings reopen
Gupta also confirmed Harley’s expansion to Tier 1 centres and smaller towns. Test rides for and bookings for the X440 are now open at all Harley-Davidson dealerships and select Hero MotoCorp outlets across the country. Customers can also book the motorcycle online by visiting.
For the uninitiated, Hero MotoCorp had temporarily suspended bookings for the X440 after receiving a huge number of bookings. The bikemaker has now started accepting fresh bookings with the updated prices. After the latest price revision, prices of X440 starts at Rs 2.40 lakh and goes up to Rs 2.80 lakh (both ex-showroom).
Harley Davidson X440 is available in three variants– Denim, Vivid and S. It is powered by a 440cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that develops 27bhp and 38 Nm of peak torque. This motor is paired with a six-speed gearbox. It is underpinned by a steel trellis frame which is suspended by KYB upside-down forks and dual springs. It rides on 18-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels. Braking duties are handled by a single disc at both ends with dual-channel ABS.
