Reise tripR 01 scooter tyre review: New name, but still performs well in the game

Coming to the initial thoughts, the Reise branding on the tyres makes it look like a premium brand, a subtle play of bright yellow colour made it aesthetically pleasing.

Reise TripR
The Reise TripR is priced competitively, but surely offers a good grip even on rough surfaces.

It is not often one gets to review a tyre, that too a scooter tyre. So when Reise Moto, a new name in the Indian tyre industry reached out to Express Drives, to review their tyre, I had a sense of pessimism. After all, the Reise tripR was going to be tested on my Activa, which for the longest time had sported a leagcy tyre brand.

I meant no offence to the Reise Moto brand, but it was that the scooter was not only used for official purposes but also for my personal commute. Tyres for that matter play a crucial role in the safety of any vehicle, and in Mumbai’s congested traffic conditions, wear and tear is much faster.

Key features of the tripR include –

  • Directional block pattern – this provides better traction, stability and shorter braking distance.
  • Angled shoulder block – For increased grip on corners and safety-inspired confidence for on/off-road riding.
  • The tripR comes with a 70:30 rubber void ratio, which the company says allows the tyres to perform well on longer journeys across mixed terrains in all-weather conditions.

The Reise TripR is priced at Rs 1,602.

Interestingly, the company provides 42 months of unconditional warranty and 6-years standard warranty on the tyres.

Reise TripR review

So, my observation on the Reise tripR is not a quick review, but is after almost 5-6 months of usage, which means that the tyres have finally clocked a few hundred kilometres. Coming to the initial thoughts, the Reise branding on the tyres makes it look like a premium brand, a subtle play of bright yellow colour made it aesthetically pleasing.

When I switched from earlier tyres, the initial riding was in a very conservative manner, trying to understand and gauge the grip of the tyres. I was surprised that it offered plenty of gripping even in dusty roads, providing high levels of confidence. The average speed was around 30-40kmph (city traffic) & upto 70kmph (clear roads). The average distance travelled ranged between 10-15km a day with a maximum of 120km single trip. This for a majority of scooter users provides a fair accurate normal usage pattern.

I personally maintain a 28-36PSI ratio between the front and back tyre during the non-monsoon season. And interestingly, after this the loss of tyre pressure was negligible.

While I would in no way accelerate to triple-digit speeds on a scooter the tripR being J-rated and having been tested for speeds upto 100kmph provided much sense of confidence.

Importantly, while all was said and done on the performance, the drop in mileage was also a matter of question. Thankfully, Reise tripR did not give me any trouble in a drop of mileage. The Activa continues to offer upwards of 40km per litre of mileage. All in all, I can say that Reise Moto can be a serious contender not only in off-road space but also in the scooter segment.
