Honda BR-V
The Honda BR V is a crossover from the Japanese carmaker which is based on the Mobilio’s platform. The Mobilio is powered by a 1.5 L diesel and a petrol engine. These engines are mated to 6-speed manual gearboxes as well as a CVT automatic for the petrol engine. Both engines are fuel efficient but the diesel unit transmits a fair amount of noise inside the cabin, a trait due to an aluminium head. The exteriors of the BR V, although designed to look like an SUV, come across more like an MPV and the resemblance with Mobilio is clearly visible.

Honda BR-V Exterior
The Honda BR V is a crossover that measures 4,463 in length, 1,735 in width and 1,666 mm in height. With a wheelbase of 2,662 mm, which is the same as the Honda Mobilio, the BR V has room for seven passengers. The front chrome slat enhances the road presence of the crossover. A rear defogger and the spoiler mounted LED tail lamp which is standard on all variants and is visible to other road users from a far distance.

Honda BR-V Interior
On the inside, all BR V variants get an all black theme in favour of sportiness. That said, the large glass area does not let you feel claustrophobic and offers good visibility to the driver as well. There is enough space for six adults in the crossover, even with two adults in the third row. It has a 2 DIN integrated audio with USB, AUX-in and Bluetooth connectivity, but misses out on a touchscreen infotainment. Dealers, however, are offering an original equipment touchscreen fitment. The interesting bits are the boot space, which is ample, even with the third row in its position and the one-touch tumble up/down of the second-row seats for easy ingress or egress from the third row.

Honda BR-V Engine
The Honda BR V is powered by two engines, a 1,497 cc i-VTEC petrol and a 1,498 cc i-DTEC diesel. Power and torque generated in the petrol variants of the MPV are 117.3 hp at 6,600 rpm and 145Nm at 4,600 rpm. On the other hand, the diesel produces 98.6hp at 3,600 and 200Nm at 1,750 rpm. Both engines are responsive but there is a bit of clatter from the diesel engine in the cabin.

Honda BR-V Transmission
The Honda Mobilio has two gearbox options, a 6 speed manual for the petrol along with a CVT automatic transmission. The diesel engine can only be ordered with a 6-speed gearbox. Both units are refined and gear changes are seamless and the light clutch adds to driving convenience. However, given the increasing popularity of automatics, the diesel engine too should have had one.

The Honda BR V comes with dual front airbags on all variants and ABS is standard on all diesel trims. Along with this, the MPV also gets a light, yet rigid ACE body structure that has impact absorbing crumple zones for added occupant safety.
