
Jawa is a Czechoslovakian motorcycle manufacturer, the history of which dates back to the year 1929. The company was founded by Frantisek Janecek who purchased the motorcycle division of division. The name was finalized to Jawa and the word was made by taking the initial letters from Janecek and Wanderer. During the 1950s, Jawa was one of the most popular motorcycle manufacturers and its bikes were imported to over 120 countries including India. It is the same time when Jawa motorcycles were introduced in India and these bikes have a cult following even today. Well aware of this, Mahindra owned Classic Legends signed a deal to launch motorbikes under the Jawa brand name in India and some of the East Asian countries. In November 2016, the Jawa brand was finally resurrected as the company launched three bikes namely Jawa, Jawa Forty Two and Jawa Perak at a starting price of Rs 1.55 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The three give a tough fight to the Royal Enfield range of old-school cruisers.
