
Ather Energy is the brainchild of two IIT graduates Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain that founded back in the year 2013. The company currently makes two electric scooters namely 450 and 340. In February 2016, the company unveiled its first electric scooter S340 in Bangalore. The company has its production facility in Whitefield in Bangalore that has a production capacity of 2400 units per week. As of July 2019, Ather Energy has set up 31 charging points in Bangalore and 10 charging points in Chennai. Ather Energy calls its charging infrastructure as Ather Grid and aims to beat petrol station density with charging points. In the long run, the brand says that the maximum distance between two charging points will not be more than 2 to 3 km. Ather Energy aims to be present in 30 Indian cities by the year 2023. Currently present in India, the brand also aims to go international by the said year. Ather Energy also has its own experience centers and the aim is to maintain end-to-end customer experience. The brand currently has two experience centers in India in Bangalore and Chennai. Test rides of the company’s electric scooters are provided at these experience centers and if you wish to own one, you will first have to pre-book the scooter of your choice at the company’s official website for India.
