McLaren’s Oscar Piastri takes his first win after a battle with teammate Lando Norris, who was asked to hand over the lead to the Australian after a pitstop strategy. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen had to settle for fifth in the race, while Lewis Hamilton took third place, followed by Leclerc in fourth.

For the Australian, it was his first victory this season, having won the Sprint race in Qatar last year. So far this season, the 23-year-old Australian took second at Monaco this year, while his victory in the Hungarian GP was special and important.

Piastri took the lead at turn 1 and pretty much held it for the entire race, apart from where a pitstop allowed Norris to take the lead. However, after a few calls, Norris had to give up the lead to Piastri on the 68th lap, who took the chequered flag.

Third place winner Hamilton had some drama of his own with Verstappen when the duo made contact, an incident that will be investigated by officials. Ferrari’s Sainz finished in sixth, ahead of Red Bull’s Perez who moved up places from his 16th position from the grid.

Mercedes’ George Russell managed to score points after starting in 17th and finishing 8th, while Yuki Tsunoda and Lance Stroll completed the top 10. Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso missed out on points, while Verstappen leads the championship, followed by Norris and Leclerc.
