Tata has been on the operation offensive over the last two years, new management and a revitalised model line-up have been at the core of their new strategy. Their new Impact design philosophy has helped too! Bringing cars like the Nexon, the Hexa, the Tigor and even the Tiago. And Tata Motors is just getting started, if the Auto Expo 2018 is any tell four more exciting cars are on their way from Tata motors in the recent future. Starting with the H5X, which is Tata’s most premium SUV till date and shares it platform with the Range Rover Land Rover Discovery.
-
Called the H5X, Tata’s new concept stole centre stage at the 2018 Auto Expo, and is likely to start production later this year. In many ways the H5X is the most “impactful” (Excuse the pun) concept out of Tata’s design Studios to date. The entire design which uses sinewy lines along it’s profile to hide the low sitting SUVs dimensions despite the fact that it’s frame is long and it is based on the same platform as a Land Rover Discovery.
-
The SUV has a sharp angular jaw line that is only accented by the High-set LED headlamps and grill. As you move further to the front of the H5X, separated by Tata’s signature humanity line is a sharp angular bumper that has what appears to be a design heavy fog lamp enclosure featuring what Tata has referred to as a ‘tri-arrow pattern'. Lines and light are a big part of the angular H5X’s design! Although Tata are yet to reveal what motor the H5X concept will be running, it is likely that it will compete against the likes of the XUV 500 once launched.
-
The next launch out of the Tata Concept bags at the Auto Expo 2018, that followed the H5Xs showcase was the severely futuristic 45X hatchback. Although the car was only visible through a glass-case, The 45X represents the Future of Tata’s Impact 2.0 Design Philosophy. Which is showcased in the 45X slim lights up fronts as well as the well-defined signature Humanity line that separates the lights from the grille. However, Tata has maintained the tight lip treatment when it comes to the 45X with even the interiors not being privy to the public eye.

BMW has their M-Cars, Mercedes has AMG and JLR have their SVOs (Special Vehicle Operations) and Tata Motors now has the JTP(Jayem-Tata-Performance) ; and they all pretty much do the same thing., Go-Faster versions of their regular road cars, and born from this new affiliation is the Tata Tigor and the Tiago JTP, which get tuned motors, suspension and even gear ratios to make them more performance oriented.
-
The Tiago and Tigor JTPs will get their 110 hp turbo charged motor from the Nexon’s punchy torque set motor. Cosmetically, the JTP siblings get a lot to set them apart from their standard car donor cars. The front bumper get a large functional air dam, a cosmetically large fog lamp housing with red embellishments, the bonnet and the fenders too get air vents. Smoked projector lamps and a rear diffuser are also included in the plethora of subtle visual updates. The Tiago and Tigor JTP also get diamond cut alloy wheels although with modest 15 inch rims.
-
Finally, the one that we are yet to see, is the Tata Motors upcoming Honda City competitor. Tata's new sedan will be based on the company's new Advance Modular Platform (AMP) that also underpins the 45X concept car. Expect powerful versions of Tata's existing Revotron petrol and Revotorq diesel engines to power the Tata's new sedan. The engine will be mated to a manual transmission with an optional AMT or dual-clutch transmission on offer at the launch.
