Renault just recently introduced a new and most definitely a very futuristic looking electric concept, which the company promises will revolutionise how we deliver goods and move people. It is all-electric, there is no human driver needed, it is connected to other pods and a main server. Renault EZ-PRO aims to help retailers better manage delivery costs and provide a solution for relaxing increasing traffic congestion in cities.

Renault EZ-PPR is a concept that comprises of a self-driving leader pod followed by autonomous robo-pods. The leader pod has a human concierge, who looks over delivery of goods & services, and the fleet.

Having the task of driving handed over to the transport vehicle, the concierge can better focus on supervising the delivery and the robo-pods, personalising and customising service. Renault believes that people will be an integral part of transport activities for a long time in the future.

The fleet of self-driving robo-pods can either follow the lead pod or move independently. Customisation is one the main objectives of the EZ-PRO. It comprises of customisable modules that can be utilised for various business needs.

A convoy of pods leaving from the same hub and managed by the same logistics operator can carry different types of goods and merchandise, each pod having its own paymaster, theme, clientele and delivery place. They are however operated by the same electric and autonomous platform.

EZ-PRO has been designed keeping in mind the needs both the business and the consumer. Recipients will be able to choose a convenient delivery time and location of their choice. The end user will also be able to choose between receiving their parcel by the concierge or accessing self-service lockers in the driverless robo-pods. These lockers, accessible 24/7, can be opened by the recipient via a mobile phone application.
