Electric bicycles seem to be catching on with widespread talks of bringing in a 'green' era in the locomotive industry. While most e-bikes seem more or less the same, Avionics has come up with one looks different and promises performance above expectations as well. Avionics V1 is a brand new electric bicycle with unique retro looks. Find out more in the following slides.

So far, electric bicycles have been conventional bikes with an electric powertrain being just an add-on, and no real innovation in their design or usability. Avionics V1, however, will be a mix of next-gen e-bike technology and retro styling that never fails to excite the beholder.

The design of the V1 is reminiscent of board track racing motorcycles from the yesteryear. It looks fast and is in itself a beautiful object. It gets a steel frame and jatoba wood, not one piece is plastic or rubber. The electric drive comes from a massive 5000W motor, that Avionics says can provide 125 Nm of torque and a top speed of 58 kph. It even gets three lower-speed modes for street riding. It has disc brakes front and back.

The motor is powered by a 24Ah lithium-ion battery pack, which is said to be capable of delivering a riding range of up to 120 km on one full charge, which only takes 2-3 hours. There is also the potential for partial recharging through a regenerative braking feature.
-
The battery pack and other electronic components are concealed in a sleek jatoba encasing at the bottom of the frame. It also has a full-size headlight built inside a jatoba wood enclosure. The saddle, grips, and parts of the front fork are also made with the wood. At this point, the Avionics V1 isn't in production or for sale yet, and the price has not been hinted at either. Pre-orders will be available in September.
