The 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show in currently underway and in the first two days of the Europe's largest auto show, manufacturers have lifted the curtains from several brand new models. But one thing that comes to notice this year is that a lot of these are electric or have something to do with electric. Take the much awaited Honda E or Lamborghini's first ever plug-in hybrid.

Hyundai 45 EV: The 45 draws design inspiration from the 1974 Pony Coupe Concept and boasts of technologically advanced features like a hidden Camera Monitoring System (CMS) which could be seen in future Hyundai models. Hyundai has not revealed the powertrain options for the 45 EV but it is expected to include multiple motors on each wheel. It is also expected to feature high-level autonomous driving capability.

Skoda Superb iV plug-in hybrid: Not many details were revealed, the Superb iV will have a smaller petrol engine and a motor-battery combination. Skoda also revealed a city car which is a plug-in battery vehicle – the Citigoe will be a pure electric vehicle with 260 km range and powered by a 61kW electric motor. Expect Europe and other countries to receive it ahead of the Indian market.

2020 Renault Captur: The second-generation Captur is slightly larger than Euro-spec model it will be replacing. Based on Renault-Nissan's CMF-B platform, the new Captur will come with E-Tech plug-in hybrid system. Engine options include 1.0-litre and 1.3-litre petrol engines and a 1.5-litre engine paired with either a five- or six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Land Rover Defender: The Defender has been updated and is now tougher than before with the D7x architecture which uses a lightweight aluminium monocoque construction. Maximum water wading depth of 900 mm while it can tow up to 3,720 kg. The Defender 110 is available with five, six or 5+2 seating configuration. Land Rover has confirmed that soon the defender is also going to come with a plug0in hybrid derivative as well.

Lamborghini Sian: The most powerful Lamborghini ever, the Sian is powered by a 720 hp naturally-aspirated 6.5-litre V12 engine from the Aventador SVJ assisted by a new 48-volt mild-hybrid system. The electric motor adds 34 hp more which brings the combined power output to 819 hp. 0-100 km/h time in the Sian is identical to the SVJ as both will do it in 2.8 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 350 hp.
