The Hyundai Santro was launched late last month, and while it has a lot of exciting segment first features, it misses a few as well. We compare it with its primary rival the Tata Tiago. We compare the Santro with the Tiago on the basis of their interiors and the features that they offer.

Once again, both the Hyundai Santro and the Tata Tiago get AMT options to their 5-speed manual gearboxes. Although, it serves to note that the AMT on the Santro is a newer generation technology and is a lot more refined than the unit on the Tata Tiago. This is also because Hyundai have developed this AMT unit completely in-house with focus on the Santro.

Once again, in terms of storage space and cubbies, both the Santro and the Tiago have plenty to offer. Although the Santro does get the Hyundai specific Swach Can that can be used as a mini waste disposal
-
Both the Santro and the Tata Tiago now offer dual airbags and ABS as standard across the range. Meaning that they stack up almost evenly in terms of safety.
-
Air Conditioning will be a close one, since Tata Motors air conditioners are known to be among the most powerful in their segment. The Hyundai Santro gets the advantage of rear vents. While circulation is likely to be better in the Santro, we suspect that the Tata Tiago will still cool more efficiently.
-
In comparison to the all-black interiors on the Tata Tiago, the dual tone finish on the Santro looks up-market and premium. While the Tata gets red accents to keep things lively, it still does not match the finesse of the Santro's interiors. In totality, Santro wins this one on account of being a newer car once the Tiago gets an update it should find itself at part with the Hyundai!
