Swedish carmaker Volvo has taken the wraps off the all-electric Volvo EM90 minivan, which shares its powertrain with the Zeekr 009 MPV, a China-specific model. The carmaker will initially launch the EM90 in China first, followed by other global markets.
On the design front, the Volvo EM90 looks very much like a Volvo with its signature LED DRLs and a split headlight design. The MPV gets a blanked-out grille with a glowing Volvo badge. Towards the rear, the EM90 gets vertical tail lamps, while the electric MPV rides on either 19 or 20-inch wheels.
Past the electrically sliding doors, the EM90 offers a luxurious cabin. The MPV will initially be offered as a 6-seater with captain seats in the second row, which feature foldable tables. The seats can be electrically adjusted and also have a massage function built into them. The rear passengers also get a 15.6-inch roof-mounted entertainment screen.
On the features front, the new Volvo EM90 gets a 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 21-speaker music system, a fully digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, climate control, dual-pane sunroof, 360-degree park assist, and ADAS tech.
Powering the Volvo EM90 is powered by a 116kWh battery pack that makes 265bhp and offers a range of 700km. Volvo claims that the all-electric EM90 MPV can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 8.3 seconds.
