As we start a new year, Chetak has launched the updated version of its electric scooter in two versions — Urbane and Premium, priced at Rs 1.15 lakh onwards. The new Chetak electric scooter competes directly with the Ather 450 range, which consists of the 450S and the 450X.

The new Chetak range has seen a host of updates in the form of technology and battery packs while retaining its unique identity, its full metal body. Let’s take a closer look at the two scooters to see how their specifications compare against each other.

2024 Bajaj Chetak

As mentioned earlier, the new Chetak Urbane and Premium continue with the same retro design with a full metal body construction. Starting with the Urbane, the scooter is available in two variants, Standard and TecPac. The primary difference between the two is the app connectivity features, hill hold assist, and ride modes, which the Standard version misses out on.

Apart from that, the major difference between the Urbane and the Premium is that the former gets a colour LCD dash while the latter gets a TFT display. Another crucial difference between the two is the battery packs, as the Urbane is powered by a 2.9kWh pack that offers a range of 113km, while the Premium gets a larger 3.2kWh battery pack with a range of 126km. The Chetak Premium is also available in Standard and TecPac trims, with similar differences as the Chetak Urbane variants.

Ather 450

The Ather 450 range is available in three primary variants — 450S, 45X with a 2.9kWh battery pack, and 450X with a 3.7kWh battery pack. Apart from the battery pack differences, the 450S gets an LCD instrument cluster, while the range-topping 450X gets a touchscreen TFT console.

The difference in battery packs also affects the range of the 450 series, as the base 450S has a range of 90km and a top speed of 90kmph. The 450X with the 2.9kWh battery pack has a range of 90km and a top speed of 90kmph, while the 450X with the larger battery pack has a range of 110km and a top speed of 90kmph, similar to the other variants.
