Xiaomi has officially launched its first electric SUV, the YU7, which will directly challenge established players like Tesla. The company has announced that the official launch of the YU7 will take place in July. This is Xiaomi’s second EV model and first SUV.

Xiaomi YU7 SUV: Exteriors

Following the design DNA of Xiaomi, the YU7 SUV is inspired by the company’s first EV, the SU7 sedan, which makes a sweeping statement with its bold exteriors.

In terms of dimensions, the YU7 is 4,999 mm long, 1,996 mm wide, 1600 mm high and 3000 mm wheelbase. Like the SU7, the new EV SUV has the largest clamshell aluminium hood in mass production, waterdrop headlights with integrated air channels, and a halo taillight with ultra-red illumination. The YU7 has a drag coefficient of Cd 0.245 — a 59 km CLTC range improvement over pre-optimization figures, establishing a class-leading range among sports SUVs.

The SUV is available in three colour options, Emerald Green, Titanium Silver, and Lava Orange.

Xiaomi YU7 SUV: Interiors

The YU7 features a panoramic sunroof, Nappa leather seats, and 100% soft-touch surfaces certified safe for even infants. It is the first mass-market vehicle to be equipped with HyperVision 1.1-metre ultra-wide infotainment screen, which offers a remote control panel that allows passengers to manage navigation and entertainment. The display screen offers five modular information categories, instrument readouts, media controls, time zones, weather updates, and navigation. The front seats have massage functions, power-adjustable rear seats, and storage space up to 1,970 litres.

Xiaomi YU7 SUV: Performance

The YU7 is powered by Xiaomi’s latest HyperEngine V6s Plus, producing up to 681 bhp and does  0-100 kmph acceleration in 3.23 seconds. According to CLTC, the Xiaomi EV SUV offers a range of up to 835 km, which surpasses the Tesla Model Y.

The YU7 SUV is offered in three variants, Standard, Pro, and Max. The Standard variant features a 96.3 kWh battery delivering an 835 km range (CLTC), making it the longest-range pure electric SUV with a sub-100 kWh battery. The four-wheel-drive Pro (96.3 kWh) and Max (101.7 kWh) variants offer ranges of 760 km and 770 km, respectively. All YU7 models use an advanced 800V silicon carbide platform with a peak voltage of 897V, enabling ultra-fast charging from 10% to 80% in 12 minutes and a 620 km charge in 15 minutes.
