Updated BMW M340i launched at Rs 74.90 lakh: Here’s what’s new

With a claimed 0 to 100 kmph acceleration time of 4.4 seconds, the BMW M340i is the quickest ICE car to be assembled in India.

BMW has launched an updated version of one of its most popular performance cars— the M340i. Sitting on top of the 3-Series range, just below the full-fledged race-spec M3, the M340i is the ideal combination of performance and luxury. Priced at Rs 74.90 lakh (ex-showroom), BMW claims to have sold more than 1,000 units of the saloon in India till date.

The updated M340i is available for bookings at all BMW dealerships and through the company’s website from today onwards. It locks its horns against Mercedes-Benz C300 AMG Line (Rs 69 lakh) and Audi S5 (Rs 77.32 lakh). 

2025 BMW M340i: What’s new?

Visually, the latest iteration of BMW M340i is almost identical to the outgoing model with the only notable change being two new colour schemes namely Arctic Race Blue and Fire Red. BMW will continue to offer the previous two shades Dravit Grey and Black Sapphire for the M340i. The sedan now rolls on Jet Black 19-inch alloy wheels.

Inside the cabin, the sport seats now come wrapped with Varnasca leather upholstery in Black with contrasting M (blue-coloured) stitching.. Further, the redesigned steering wheel comes with a red centre marker at the 12 o’clock position. Another notable change are the new air conditioning vents.

In terms of features, the fully-digital BMW Curved Display now runs on the company’s 8.5 OS, upgrading from 8.0 OS. Mechanically as well, the M340i remains largely unchanged with the only significant update being the addition of M Adaptive suspension as a standard fitment.

The M340i continues to be loaded with all the gizmos including a 14.9-inch touchscreen. a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, three zone climate control, ambient lighting, a glass sunroof, head-up display, wireless smartphone integration, BMW digital key, engine auto start/stop and a 16-speaker Harmon Kardon audio system to name a few.

Safety package offers features like six airbags, tyre pressure monitor, ISOFIX child seat, electric parking brake with auto hold, dynamic traction control, cornering brake control, parking assistant with rear view camera, and more.

Powering the BMW M340 is the same 3.0-litre, six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with 48V mild-hybrid assist 369 bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque. Power is transferred to all four wheels by an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission via BMW xDrive all-wheel drive technology. It also gets paddle shifters for a more engaging driving experience. There are two ride modes on offer: Sport and Sport+. The M340i can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.4 seconds, making it the fastest IC engine powered car to be built in India.
