The entire automotive industry is looking forward to 2024 with some interesting new launches in the pipeline. Mahindra is one such OEM which has some exciting new cars up for launch next year. Let us look at all the prospective Mahindra SUVs and electric vehicles (EVs) expected to make a mark in 2024.
Mahindra XUV300 facelift
Expected launch: February 2024
Mahindra’s first launch in 2024 is expected to be the facelifted XUV300 which has been on test for a while now. Spy shots of the upcoming subcompact SUV have frequently surfaced on the internet in recent times. This will be the first major update to the XUV300 ever since it was first launched in 2018.
Besides notable styling tweaks, the new XUV300 is expected to receive some critical feature additions. However, mechanically it is likely to remain identical to the outgoing model with the same engine options comprising– a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, a 1.5-litre diesel engine, and a 1.2-litre mStallion turbo petrol engine. Reports suggest a new Aisin-sourced 6-speed automatic (torque converter) is expected to join the lineup, replacing the AMT unit.
Mahindra XUV400 facelift
Expected launch: Q1 2024
Like the XUV300, its all-electric derivative will also receive some updates like cosmetic changes and feature additions. It will continue to offer the same electric powertrain options with either a 34.5kW battery or a 39.4kW unit with a claimed single-charge range of 375 km and 476 km, respectively.
Mahindra XUV300 EV
Expected launch: Q2 2024
Recent reports have confirmed that Mahindra will also bring out another electric SUV next year which will sit below the XUV400. It will be interesting to see how Mahindra manages to differentiate these two battery-powered SUVs, in terms of specs as well as price. We believe the new XUV300 EV will carry the same visual details as XUV400 but will offer slightly modest specs and features which will make it a more cost effective option.
Mahindra 5-door Thar
Expected launch: June 2024
Probably the most anticipated launch from Mahindra next year is expected to be the 5-door version of Thar. Test mules of this SUV have been spotted on numerous occasions over the past couple of years. Like the current 3-door Thar, its 5-door sibling will also carry the same visual appeal but is visible longer than the former. It is also expected to carry forward the same engine options– a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol unit, and a 2.2-litre mHAwk diesel unit, albeit in different states of tune.
Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus
Expected launch: Aug-Sept 2024
Mahindra is expected to bring out a longer version of the Bolero Neo which is likely to be named Bolero Neo Plus (in similar lines to the erstwhile TUV300 Plus). This MUV will get a long wheelbase in order to accommodate proper third-row bench seats. Not much is known regarding this model yet but it is expected to offer the same set of features and specs as the current Bolero Neo.
Mahindra XUV.e8
Expected Debut: December 2024
Mahindra could officially unveil the upcoming XUV.e8 towards the end of 2024. An all-electric derivative of XUV700, price announcement and deliveries of XUV.e8 are expected to commence from early 2025. It will be the first next-gen born EV from Mahindra and will be underpinned by the INGLO skateboard platform.
