The mid-size EV SUV market is set for a wave of new launches from brands like Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors. Here’s everything you need to know.

2025 is the age of electric vehicles for the automobile sector. This was quite evident at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 when the companies showcased electric vehicles like never before and are expected to flood the market this year. If you’re planning to buy an electric SUV then before you sign on the dotted line, let us tell you the four most awaited electric SUVs that will offer a 500 km plus driving range in a single charge. 

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara 

Maruti Suzuki unveiled its first all-electric vehicle, the e Vitara, at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. Maruti Suzuki Chairman R C Bhargava recently confirmed that the e Vitara will be launched in September. The e Vitara will be available in two battery options — 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The entry-level has a maximum power of 142 bhp and 189 Nm of torque with a single motor.

The 61 kWh battery churns out 172 bhp with identical torque and a single motor. The 61 kWh version will also be equipped with twin motors and AllGrip form of all-wheel drive with an output of around 181 bhp and 300 Nm. The base version offers a range of approximately 345 km while the 61 kWh entry version claims up to 426 km and the AWD model around 396 km. 

Tata Harrier EV

The Harrier EV was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo and it will officially be launched on June 3. Even though the Harrier EV will be based on the modified chassis of its internal combustion version, which is called Acti.ev Gen 2 architecture. The Harrier EV will be equipped with an all-wheel-drive, which is a first for the current  Safari generation.

Tata Motors has confirmed that the Harrier EV will return a range of over 500 km and a torque output of 500 Nm, but has not yet revealed its battery specifications. What can be expected is that the Harrier EV could be powered by a bigger battery than the 55 kWh available in the Curvv EV

Tata Sierra EV

Tata Motors is finally bringing back the Sierra nameplate and the company has confirmed to Express Drives that the EV version will be launched this financial year. The Sierra EV is based on Acti.ev Gen 2 architecture, it is expected to offer a driving range of over 500 km. The Sierra EV is expected to be a front-wheel-drive, unlike the Harrier. It will be available in two seating layouts — 4 and 5-seater.

Mahindra XEV 7e

The XEV 7e is based on Mahindra’s born-electric INGLO skateboard platform and is expected to be offered in two battery packs like the BE 6 and XEV 9e. The lower trim will get 59 kWh while the model will be powered by the 79 kWh battery pack. Mahindra has recently also confirmed that they are looking to introduce the 79 kWh battery option in the mid-level variants.
