The fifth best-selling hatchback in August 2023 was the Tata Tiago, which is available in ICE and EV versions. In August 2023, Tata sold 9,463 units of the hatchback, as compared to selling 7,209 units in August 2022, registering a YoY growth of 31 percent.
Maruti Suzuki Alto
The once-best-selling car in India was the 15th best-seller in August and the fourth best-selling hatchback last month. Maruti Suzuki sold 9,603 units of the Alto in August 2023 as compared to selling 14,388 units in August last year, registering a YoY decline of 33 percent.
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R
The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R takes the third spot in the list of best-selling hatchbacks in August 2023. Last month, Maruti Suzuki sold 15.578 units of the Wagon R in August 2023, while the carmaker sold 18.398 units in August 2022, registering a YoY decline of 15 percent.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno
The second best-selling hatchback in August 2023 was the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, which is sold with a sole 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to a manual or an AMT gearbox. The carmaker sold 18,516 units last month, as compared to selling 18,418 units in August last year, registering a 1 percent YoY growth.
The best-selling car in August 2023 was the Maruti Suzuki Swift, which also leads the sales among hatchbacks. Maruti Suzuki sold 18,653 units of the Swift last month, registering a YoY growth of 65 percent. For reference, Maruti Suzuki sold 11,275 units of the Swift hatchback in August 2022.
