Tesla’s entry into the Indian market has been widely discussed across all forums, especially since the last three months ever since the regime in the United States of America changed in January. The proximity between US President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk is one of the most highlighted points of discussion.
Almost confirmed to set shop in India in the near future, Tesla has started testing its models in India. Recently, a prototype of Model Y was spotted testing on Indian roads. Now, a test mule of the Cybertruck has been caught on cameras. Unlike the Model Y prototype spied last week in a fully camouflaged avatar, the latest Cybertruck test mule can be seen without a single camouflage around its body.
Interestingly, the latest spy images reveal a unit of Cybertruck being transported on the back of a truck from one place to another. So is Tesla planning to launch the Cybertruck in India? Not quite. The Cybertruck seen here is most likely a private import from Dubai. The images have reportedly been clicked on the outskirts of Mumbai. This fact is supported when you take a closer look at the registration plate of the vehicle, which doesn’t belong to the country.
Many affluent Indians have previously imported Tesla through Carnet services for a limited period of time. This unit of Cybertruck is most likely the same case. There’s no plans for Tesla to launch the Cybertruck in India in the near future. The Elon Musk-led company is planning to set foot in India with Model Y and Model 3. There’s also a more affordable derivative of Model Y in the making, however, its launch has been delayed.
