After introducing the larger Skoda Kodiaq and the compact Skoda Karoq, Skoda Auto is now gearing up to roll out its third crossover. Skoda Vision X is a concept which will be unveiled at the 88th Geneva Motor Show. Skoda says that the Vision X will have compact proportions and will be suited for ‘an active, urban lifestyle’. Billed as an ‘urban crossover’, the high-riding Skoda Vision X will highlight an evolution in Skoda design language with sharp body in a FLexGreen paintjob. The double headlamp arrangement will be used in more and more of Skoda cars, but the pop-up door handles seem unlikely to make it to the production version.
Skoda Vision X will have a contrast roof, a trend that is getting very popular, distinctive bumpers, a large panoramic glass roof and 20-inch alloy wheels. Skoda says that the sharp design was inspired by traditional Czech glasswork.
On the inside, the Skoda Vision X will have a new design language as well. The wide, ergonomically contoured dashboard with freestanding colour display dominates the visual impression in the interior. The infotainment and connectivity services can be accessed via the screen. Illuminated elements made of cut crystal glass in conjunction with the colour display create atmospheric lighting effects.
Skoda Vision X is the Czech automobile manufacturer’s take on a modern crossover. Expanding the range of models with a focus on the fast-growing SUV segment is a cornerstone of Skoda’s Strategy 2025. By 2025, Skoda Auto will have brought out plug-in hybrid vehicles in addition to all-electric cars. Then, every fourth vehicle the brand delivers worldwide will have a plug-in hybrid or purely electric powertrain.
