Skoda brought back the Superb to India earlier in April this year after a brief hiatus when it was discontinued last year. The latest iteration of Superb comes as a fully-imported Completely Built Unit (CBU) and hence it carries a hefty price tag of Rs 54 lakh (ex-showroom). Only 100 cars were imported in the first batch.
While this may seem an awfully small number, the Czech carmaker is yet struggling to find customers for the premium executive sedan. As per a recent media report, some Skoda dealers are yet to clear the inventory for the third-gen Superb. The dealers are now trying to liquidate the existing stocks by offering a heavy discount for the D-segment sedan.
Skoda Superb discounts
The report mentions that Skoda dealers are offering discounts worth Rs 15-18 lakh on the Superb. Some of the Skoda Superb units for sale at multi-brand dealerships in north and central India are yet to be registered. Out of the total 100 units imported, around 20-25 cars are yet to be sold and still available with such benefits across the country.
With a price slash of around Rs 18 lakh, the current fully-imported Skoda Superb is now priced at par with the pre-facelift, locally-assembled model which was priced at Rs 36 lakh (ex-showroom), before it got discontinued in April 2023 due to implementation of BS6 phase 2 emission norms. However, buyers have to bear the fact in mind that units on sale now were manufactured in 2023, hence they aren’t brand new.
Skoda Superb is powered by a 2-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine which pumps out 188 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. This motor is exclusively paired with a 7-speed DGS automatic gearbox. In terms of features, it gets a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, three-zone climate control, a fully digital driver’s display, 12-speaker 610W Canton sound system, ventilated front sears, and much more.
