Skoda has released the first official set of design sketches of the 2024 Octavia facelift ahead of its global debut scheduled on 14 February. This is the first major update to fourth-gen Octavia which made its debut in 2020. The latest sketches hint at subtle exterior updates over the current model.
2024 Skoda Octavia sketches revealed: Updated design
Skoda hasn’t tinkered much with the styling of Octavia, but the updates are noticeable. For instance, the new Octavia gets a sharper front fascia courtesy of a redesigned bumper, an updated grille, and sleeker, boomerang-shaped LED headlights with integrated LED DRLs. The side profile remains largely intact including the fastback-roofline adding the sedan’s sporty stance. The distinct character lines are also carried forward from the previous model.
At the rear as well, the layout remains familiar with the same taillight cluster although the internals seem updated. The rear bumper has also been reprofiled and now gets sharper cuts and creases. Although Skoda is yet to reveal interiors of the new Octavia, expect no major changes inside the cabin, expect new colour schemes and upholstery.
2024 Skoda Octavia: Expected powertrain
As far as powertrain is concerned, Skoda is likely to offer the Octavia with two turbocharged petrol engine options– a 1.5-litre unit and a 2.0-litre unit. The former produces 148 bhp and 250 NM of peak torque, while the latter pumps out 188 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. A 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox will be a standard offering on both engines, with the option of a 6-speed manual transmission linked to the 1.5-litre motor in select markets.
2024 Skoda Octavia: Expected India launch
Skoda discontinued the Octavia in India early last year due to poor sales. However, there are rumours of the Czech carmaker bringing back the premium sedan to our shores at the latter end of 2024, but there is no evidence to back this claim. Skoda is instead focussing on the Enyaq electric SUV and the unnamed subcompact SUV for the Indian market, for the near future.
