An owner of a Skoda Octavia in Ludhiana got his car towed by donkeys in what seems to be a busy market area of Ludhiana. Although further details aren’t available yet, the car in the pictures shared by the Twitter handle of ANI News show a white Octavia being towed by two donkeys. The identity of the car’s owner and his exact concerns regarding the car aren’t clear yet.
However, the tweets claim that this act was carried out by the owner of the car in order to protest against the company’s inability to provide adequate repair and maintenance services.
Responding to the incident, an official spokesperson from Skoda India said, “The examination conducted by the Skoda technical team reveals that the car specifications have been altered by the customer which has led to invalidating the Skoda warranty. The modifications have resulted in consequential damage and the Skoda warranty states that the manufacturer is not responsible for any aftermarket fitments to the vehicle. Customer service is our number one priority; we always have and will continue to provide full cooperation to the customer to ensure the car is roadworthy at the earliest.”
Skoda India has been struggling for long with a market perception of maintenance and reliability issues. Off late, the company has been making constant efforts to shed this image and has come out with various schemes to improve consumer confidence. One of the notable schemes include a four years warranty package. The company also offers a buy now, pay later scheme on some of its models, wherein the consumer can buy the car now and pay EMIs at a later stage.
