The popularity of petrol SUVs with an automatic transmission is growing, particularly, amongst potential urban car buyers. This has happened due to the lesser price difference between petrol and diesel as well as the rising demand for an automatic transmission for a convenient driving experience. Looking at this rise in demand for petrol SUVs with an automatic transmission, Renault India has introduced a new variant of the Duster SUV which is now offered with an automatic gearbox alongside the 5-speed manual transmission and has an introductory price tag of Rs 10.32 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
Powering the Duster petrol automatic will be a 1.5-litre petrol engine that will be mated to an X-Tronic CVT transmission with four modes, Park, Reverse, Neutral and Drive. For an engaging driving experience, the gearbox can be shifted to a manual mode in which the driver can change gears manually. The 1.5-litre H4K motor generates 104 hp of power at 5,600 rpm and 142 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm.
Based on the RxS variant, the Renault Duster petrol automatic gets a touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity, automatic climate control, all four power windows, steering mounted cruise control and a steering mounted phone as well as audio switchgear. Safety features include ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), ESP (Electronic Stability Program), dual front airbags, hill start assist and reverse parking sensors with a rearview camera. The five-seater SUV competes directly with the Hyundai Creta petrol automatic that is available with a 6-speed torque converter unit.

The Duster Petrol Automatic will be offered in seven colour options, Fiery Red, Pearl White, Moonlight Silver, Outback Bronze, Woodland Brown, Slate Grey and Cayenne Orange. Like all other Renault models sold in India, the Duster petrol automatic will also be offered with a two year/50,000 km warranty and free roadside assistance for the first two years as standard. According to a recent coverage of our publication, the new variant of the Duster petrol has already reached showrooms and is available for test drives.
