Nissan has finally launched the fourth-gen X-Trail at a whopping price of Rs 49.92 lakh (ex-showroom). The X-Trail moniker returns to India after a decade and will be available as a fully-imported CBU model. Bookings for the premium SUV is currently underway at a token amount of Rs 1.00 lakh at all Nissan dealerships across the country.

Globally, around 4.50 lakh units of the X-Trail were sold last year making it one of top 5 SUVs sold in 2023. As of now, 150 units of the X-Trail are ready to be delivered to the first set of customers. The Indi-spec X-Trail is available exclusively as a seven-seater with three colour options including Diamond Black, Champagne Silver and Solid White.

Nissan X-Trail: Design

The India-spec X-Trail mirrors its international counterpart with the distinctive V-motion reverse trapezoidal grille, adorned with ample chrome accents. Nissan has opted for a more angular design language, deviating from the curvaceous third-gen model. The front fascia features split LED lighting, complemented by sleek inverted L-shaped LED DRLs, while the rear boasts L-shaped LED taillamps.

A notable highlight is the standard 20-inch alloy wheels, the largest in its segment, which impart a tall and imposing stance to the SUV. Sporty undertones are evident in the side skirts on either end of the front bumper. Additional visual accents include door claddings, a rear wiper and washer integrated spoiler with a top-mounted stop lamp, and a shark-fin antenna, collectively enhancing the X-Trail’s exterior appeal.

Nissan X-Trail: Interiors & Features

The X-Trail is lavishly equipped with an array of premium features, including a spacious freestanding touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster. The cabin boasts dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, automatic wipers, and an electric parking brake with auto-hold function, ensuring a comfortable and convenient driving experience.

Additional amenities include drive modes, centre console cup holders, and wireless smartphone charging. Noteworthy innovations also comprise a 360-degree camera, paddle shifters, and adjustable seat sliding and reclining functions. On the safety front, the X-Trail offers a comprehensive suite of features, including seven airbags, ABS and EBD, traction control, limited-slip differential, hill-start assist, and front parking sensors, providing peace of mind for occupants.

Nissan X-Trail: Engine specs

The India-spec Nissan X-Trail will be powered by a sole engine option – a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol unit, paired with a 12V mild-hybrid system. This powertrain delivers an impressive 161 bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a seamless shift-by-wire CVT automatic transmission, ensuring smooth gear shifts. Sadly, the X-Trail in India only comes with a 2WD drivetrain although it gets a limited slip differential for light off-roading purposes.
