
The 2017 Honda City is equipped with a host of new features and is powered by the same 1.5 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel engines. Since the sedan was launched in India in 1998, it has sold over 6.5 lakh units and India is the largest market for the Honda City, according to the company.
Honda Cars India has launched the new Honda City at Rs 8.50 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The company has launched the 2017 City with a host of new features, although the powertrain options remain the same. The 2017 Honda City is powered by the existing 1.5 litre petrol and a 1.5 litre diesel engine. The petrol variants produce 117 hp of power and 145 Nm of torque and are paired to a 5-speed manual and a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) automatic gearbox with paddle shifters on higher trims. The diesel versions, on the other hand, generates 99 hp and 200 Nm and is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The sedan is offered with a choice of five versions, namely; S, SV, V, VX and ZX.

The exterior changes made to the new-generation Honda City includes LED headlamps with standard daytime running lamps, LED fog lamps, 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels and LED tail lamps. These features are available in the higher versions, VX and ZX. The company has also offered the top trims with a boot lid mounted spoiler with LED stop lamp, LED lamps for the rear license plate as well as an electric sunroof. The base trims get 15-inch alloy wheels.

The cabin of the 2017 Honda City features an LCD infotainment system with 4 speakers on the lower versions, while a 17.7 cm or a 7-inch DIGIPAD touchscreen infotainment system with 4 speakers and 4 tweeters, 1.5 GB media memory, mirror link smartphone connectivity, voice recognition and a rearview camera is available on the V, VX and ZX variants. The leather seat upholstery, leather wrapped armrests, automatic headlamps, automatic wipers and LED cabin lights are also part of the equipment list on the top versions.

In terms of safety, the new Honda City is equipped with ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, dual airbags, engine immobiliser and ISOFIX child seat mount as standard across all variants. The higher variants, on the other hand, get cruise control, 6 airbags including driver, front passenger, side and curtain airbags. Over the last few months, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz had been selling more than the previous version of the Honda City, however, with the introduction of new features, the Japanese sedan should give a good competition to the current segment leader.
