Maruti Suzuki has introduced a rotatable front passenger seat option for its Wagon R hatchback, aimed at improving accessibility for senior citizens and persons with disabilities. The feature is being offered as part of a pilot project rolled out across more than 200 Arena dealerships in 11 cities, in partnership with TRUEAssist Technology. The company said the pilot will be expanded further depending on customer response. Pricing for the Wagon R swivel seat option has not been disclosed yet.
Enhancing Mobility for Senior Citizens and PWDs
The swivel seat kit is compatible with Wagon R models manufactured from 2019 onwards and can be retrofitted in under an hour. Importantly, the installation does not require any structural modification to the vehicle, nor does it involve replacing the factory-fitted seat. This ensures the car’s original safety architecture remains intact.
Seamless Retrofitting and Certified Safety
According to the official statement, the swivel seat has been tested and certified by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) and complies with all applicable safety standards. The company will also offer a three-year warranty against manufacturing defects on the swivel seat mechanism.
