Maruti Swift CNG vs Tata Tiago CNG Comparison: Specs, Mileage, Price

Maruti Suzuki launched the Swift in its CNG version, starting at Rs 8.20 lakh, ex-showroom. The Swift CNG comes in three variants: VXI CNG, VXI (O) CNG, and ZXI CNG. It competes with the Tata Tiago CNG, the sole CNG hatchback in the market that offers manual and AMT gearbox options.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG operates with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated engine. This CNG variant produces 69 bhp at 5700 rpm and 101.8 Nm of torque at 2900 rpm. It comes with a 5-speed manual transmission. Maruti Suzuki claims that the new Swift offers a fuel efficiency of 32.85 km/kg, which is a 6 per cent enhancement from the prior generation model.

The Tiago, on the other hand, is available in eight manual trims and four AMT variants. It gets a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine with an output of 72 bhp at 6000 rpm and torque of 95 Nm at 3500 rpm. As mentioned earlier, it is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. The former returns 26.49 km/kg and 28.06 km/kg for AMT.

The Swift CNG gets safety features like six airbags, Electronic Stability Program+, Hill Hold Assist, reverse parking sensors and ABS and EBD. It also offers automatic climate control, a rear AC vent, a wireless charger, 60: 40 split rear seats, and a 7-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and connected technology. The Swift gets a traditional single CNG cylinder with a capacity of 55 litres. 

The Tiago is the first hatchback to offer a twin CNG cylinder with a capacity of 66 litres and can be started directly in CNG mode. It is the only vehicle in its segment to receive a 4-star Global NCAP safety rating. In terms of safety features, it comes with two airbags, ABS with EBD and Corner Stability Control, ABS with EBD and a tyre pressure monitoring system. It sports a 7-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, fog lamps, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights and a rear parking camera.
