Maruti Suzuki unveiled its new C-segment compact SUV a couple of days ago. Although prices of the vehicle are yet to be revealed, the general consensus in the market is that it will be slightly more affordable than its sibling — Grand Vitara — with whom the Victoris shares its underpinnings.

At the unveiling, Maruti announced that Victoris has received a perfect 5-star safety rating from Bharat New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). It becomes only the second product in Maruti’s portfolio to earn a 5-star safety rating at either Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP after the new-gen Dzire which made its debut in November last year. Let us look at what makes the Victoris such a 5-star rated safe car.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris: Adult Occupant Protection

The Victoris has been awarded a 5-star rating for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) after scoring 31.66 points out of 32. This includes 15.66 out of 16 in Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test and a full score of 16 for Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test. The Victoris ranks fourth highest in adult safety ratings right behind the likes of Tata Harrier EV, Mahindra XEV 9e, and Mahindra BE 6. Side pole impact results also proved to be satisfactory.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris: Child Occupant Protection

For Child Occupant Protection (COP), the Victoris scored a total of 43 points out of 49 that includes a dynamic score 24, a CRS installation score of 12 and a vehicle assessment score of 7. A combination of all these scores meant the Victoris was awarded a 5-star rating in COP as well. In fact, the overall child occupant score is the highest secured by the Maruti Suzuki in a Bharat NCAP crash test.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris: Safety equipment

Maruti Suzuki offers safety features such as six airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts, pedestrian protection systems, and electronic stability control as standard across all variants. Other notable safety equipment offered in Victoris include a 360-degree camera, Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), and tyre pressure monitoring system. The ADAS package includes features like automatic emergency brake, adaptive cruise control with curve speed reduction, lane keep assist, high beam assist, etc.
