Maruti Suzuki launches Victoris, new Hyundai Creta rival with Level 2 ADAS

Maruti Suzuki says that the Victoris has attained a 5-star safety rating by Bharat NCAP.

Maruti Suzuki has taken a bold step by launching its second compact C-segment SUV after the Grand Vitara. Called Victoris, this SUV will be sold via the Arena showrooms unlike Grand Vitara which is retailed through the Nexa chain. The new Victoris will serve as Maruti’s flagship offering in the Arena range.

Pre-bookings for the Victoris have commenced at a token amount of Rs 11,000. Prospective buyers can register their interest for the same at any authorized Arena dealership. The SUV will be made available in six variants namely – LXi, VXi, ZXi, ZXi (O), ZXi+, and ZXi+ (O).

Maruti Suzuki Victoris: Exterior highlights

Although based on the same Suzuki Global C platform as Grand Vitara, the Victoris is visually very different from its Nexa sibling with a completely redesigned front fascia and a rear end. Key exterior highlights of the Victoris include a connected LED tail-light bar, redesigned grille, new LED headlamps with DRLs, squared-off wheel arches, and dual-tone 17-inch aero-cut alloy wheels with 215/60 section tyres. The SUV also features a shark-fin antenna, and white skid plates at both the front and rear.

Maruti is offering as many as 10 new colour options with the Victoris namely – Arctic White, Splendid Silver, Eternal Blue, Sizzling Red, Bluish Black, Magma Grey, Mystic Green, Splendid Silver with Black Roof, Sizzling Red with Black Roof, and Eternal Blue with Black Roof, out of which the Eternal Blue and Mystic Green shades are new.

Internally, the Victoris is very different from the Grand Vitara with a completely new triple layered dashboard and dual tone black and ivory interiors. Soft touch panels on the dashboard and door trims, textured seat upholstery and elegant piano black accents add to the premium experience inside the cabin.

In terms of features, Maruti Victoris comes loaded with creature comforts such as a 10.1-inch digital instrument panel, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, voice assistant through Alexa, Suzuki Maps with traffic and speed recognition, an eight speaker Infinity audio system with Dolby Atmos panoramic sunroof, eight-way power-adjustable ventilated front seats, 64-colour ambient lights, powered tailgate with gesture control, and more.

When it comes to safety, the Victoris is equipped with 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Program, Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Hill Hold Control, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and a 360-degree camera. It is also the first Maruti Arena model to benefit from a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System. Maruti says the Victoris has gained a perfect 5-star safety rating by Bharat NCAP.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris: Powertrain specs

Powering the Maruti Victoris is the same set of engine options as Grand Vitara. This includes a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5-litre petrol strong hybrid engine. The former produces 103 bhp and 137 Nm of peak torque. This motor can be had with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. 

Suzuki’s ALLGRIP Select 4×4 system is offered with this engine as an option with the manual transmission. This system comes with a multi-terrain Mode Selector with Auto, Snow, Sport, and Lock drive modes. The same engine can also be had in a CNG guise as well with detuned output of 87 bhp. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre strong hybrid powertrain comes mated to an e-CVT gearbox that returns a fuel efficiency of 28.65 kmpl.
