Maruti Suzuki introduces Grand Vitara Phantom BLAQ Edition: Here’s what’s new

Maruti Suzuki says it has sold over 300,000 units of Grand Vitara in just 32 months.

Maruti Suzuki recently marked a decade of its Nexa chain of showrooms. To commemorate this occasion, the company has launched a new special edition model of Grand Vitara. Called the Phantom BLAQ Edition, it is an all-black limited edition of the flagship SUV. The company is yet to announce prices for this special variant but bookings for the same have commenced.

Speaking at the launch, Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “As we celebrate a decade of Nexa, the Grand Vitara Phantom BLAQ Edition reflects our ongoing commitment to inspire customers with specially curated innovations. This Limited Edition captures the essence of indulgence, offering an SUV that not only performs exceptionally but also aligns perfectly with the refined lifestyles of our discerning buyers.”

The Grand Vitara Phantom BLAQ edition essentially gets exterior and interior cosmetic enhancements over the standard model. For stance, the exterior of the Phantom Blaq edition wears a new matte black exterior complemented by an all-black interior that features a perforated faux leather upholstery along with champagne gold accents.

Based on the top-spec Strong Hybrid Alpha+ variant, the Grand Vitara Phantom BLAQ edition comes loaded with all bells and whistles including a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a Clarion sound system, a wireless phone charger, a 360 view camera and a Head-Up Display (HUD). 

The Phantom Blaq edition is also equipped with Suzuki Connect, providing connected car capabilities with remote access features. Safety features on offer include 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Program, ABS with EBD, Hill Hold Control, Reverse Parking Sensors, 3-point seat belts with reminders, and more.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Phantom BLAQ: Powertrain

Mechanically, the Grand Vitara Phantom Blaq Edition remains unchanged. Powering the all-black SUV is a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder, Atkinson cycle petrol engine that produces 91 bhp by itself. This engine is paired with an electric motor that develops 79 bhp and 141 Nm of torque. The combined output from this strong hybrid powertrain, mated to an e-CVT gearbox, stands at 115 bhp.
