There has been a growing consensus for enhanced safety in cars, globally and in India over the past decade. The Government of India has taken significant steps to improve the safety of passenger vehicles, one of them being standardisation of airbags in a car. From 1 October 2025 onwards, all PVs in the country will have to have at least six airbags as part of the equipment.
Many carmakers have already started to upgrade their lineup with the upcoming safety mandate. Maruti Suzuki, which hasn’t been known for exceptional safety until the recent past, has also started. As per reports, the company has updated the Brezza with six airbags. An official announcement regarding the same is around the corner.
2025 Maruti Suzuki Brezza updates
According to latest updates, the 2025 Maruti Brezza gets 6 airbags as standard across all variants. These include front driver and passenger airbags, 2 side airbags, and 2 curtain airbags. Other standard safety features offered in the updated Brezza include 3 point ELR ELR seatbelts for all seats, shoulder height adjustment for front seatbelts, and adjustable rear headrests.
Besides safety, the sub-compact SUV will also offer a folding rear centre armrest with cup holders as a standard feature. The updated equipment also reflects the increase in prices of the 2025 Brezza which now starts from Rs 8.69 lakh and goes up to Rs 13.98 lakh (ex-showroom).
2025 Maruti Suzuki Brezza: Powertrain
Mechanically, the Brezza remains unchanged, powered by the same 1.5-litre K15C naturally aspirated petrol engine which kicks out 102 bhp and 139 Nm of peak torque. This motor is paired with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. This engine is also available in a CNG guise, exclusively mated to the 6-speed manual unit, pushing out 87 bhp and 121.5 Nm of torque.
