Maruti Suzuki may be the market leader in India’s passenger vehicle market, but it hasn’t stepped into the electric vehicle (EV) space yet. However, that is going to change very soon as the Indo-Japanese carmaker has announced that it will launch its first EV in India next year.

Suzuki, parent company of Maruti Suzuki, first displayed the eVX concept back in January 2023. Since then, test mules of the electric SUV have been spotted on numerous occasions both in foreign soil as well as Indian roads. The eVX has been spied yet again, this time revealing a few more design details.

Maruti Suzuki eVX: Exterior highlights

The latest set of spy images have been clicked in Southern Europe where a test mule of the Suzuki eVX was seen carrying out pre-launch trial tests. As seen in previous spy shots, the eVX testing prototype can be seen heavily wrapped under black foliage. One distinct feature seen in the recent set of images are the new projector LED headlamp clusters vertically flanked by twin integrated LED DRLs.

The nose is reminiscent of the India-spec Grand Vitara while the bumper looks more aggressive housing a huge air dam. The slanting LED taillights are joined by a LED stripe running across the width of the tailgate. Side profile remains similar to the previously spied test mules with a flattish roofline, circular wheel arches, and multi-spoke alloy wheels. Other visual highlights include a roof-mounted spoiler, shark-fin antenna, and rear door handles mounted on C-pillar.

Maruti Suzuki eVX: India launch, specs & rivals

Production of the Maruti Suzuki eVX is expected to commence towards the end of this year with India being considered as a global production hub. The global debut of the electric SUV is expected to coincide, most likely preceding its series production. It is expected to make it to the Indian market by the first quarter of CY2025.

Previous reports suggest that Maruti Suzuki eVX will feature a 60kWh battery and will be offered in two derivatives— a single motor, front-wheel drive layout and a dual-motor, all-wheel drive layout. It is expected to deliver a peak range of up to 500 km on a single charge. Upon launch it will go up against the likes of Hyundai Creta EV, MG ZS EV, Mahindra XUV400, and the upcoming Tata Curvv coupe electric SUV.
