Mahindra has been testing an XUV300 version extensively in India and at high altitudes, suggesting that the carmaker is trying to finetune one or more crucial components. This also leaves us curious as to what Mahindra is testing.
Could it be suspension, a new powertrain, or a new gearbox? Or could the Mahindra XUV300 that was spotted be a facelift version that the carmaker was testing? Here’s what to expect.
Design and interior
The Mahindra XUV300 spotted testing is surely a facelift model, which will get design updates that will enhance the overall look of the SUV. The camouflaged version that was spotted testing features round headlights, however, these can be for testing purposes only, and the final version is expected to have sleeker LED units.
The Mahindra XUV300 facelift will also feature updates inside the vehicle and the most notable one is the new touchscreen infotainment system, which is larger. The XUV300 facelift will also get a panoramic sunroof, a feature that has been driving sales for many carmakers in India. Another possible change could be in the form of a digital instrument cluster.

Engine specifications
Mahindra is expected to carry forward the same engine options: A 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 108bhp and 200Nm of torque, the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that makes 129bhp and 230Nm of torque, and the 1.5-litre diesel engine that makes 115bhp and 300Nm of torque.
However, what is interesting is that Mahindra will introduce a new 6-speed automatic gearbox, most probably sourced from Aisin, the company that supplies automatic gearboxes for the Scorpio-N and the XUV700. At the moment, it is unclear if all the engine options will get the automatic option or select units.
Launch timeline
The launch of the Mahindra XUV300 facelift is expected to take place sometime during the first half of 2024. When launched, expect the XUV300 facelift to carry a slight premium over the current model, and the sub-4 metre SUV will compete with the Tata Nexon facelift, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza amongst others.
