Finally, Mahindra made an official announcement about its upcoming 5-door version of the Thar, which will be called the Roxx. The SUV was snapped testing on numerous occasions, and there are plenty of pictures with the vehicle well camouflaged.
Last week, Mahindra also gave us a glimpse of what the final version will look like, and this brings one big question — how different is the new Thar Roxx compared to the three-door version? Let’s try to answer as many as possible.
Mahindra Thar Roxx vs three-door Thar — Design and dimension
At first glance, the Mahindra Thar Roxx is larger than its three-door sibling, owing to the two extra doors and an additional row of seating. Mahindra has also made several tweaks to the design of the vehicle to give it a more premium appeal, such as new LED headlights with integrated DRLs, a new alloy wheel design, a redesigned front grille, new tail lamps, rear door handles hidden away in the C-Pillar, and minor tweaks to the bumper and foglamp housing, which give it a fresh overall look.
It retains its muscular butch design with flared wheel arches, fender-mounted turn signals, door-mounted ORVMs, and external latches for the bonnet, retaining the traditional family design. Mahindra has not revealed any details about the dimensions of the Thar Roxx, however, expect it to be longer than its three-door sibling.
Mahindra Thar Roxx vs three-door Thar — Interior and features
Moving on to the interiors, Mahindra has not officially revealed details, however, based on previous spy shots, we can point out a few key details. The new Thar Roxx gets a 10.25-inch infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity and navigation, a fully digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera, and possibly even six airbags as standard and ADAS Level 2. The Mahindra Thar Roxx could also get a panoramic sunroof.
Now, comparing the three-door version, the Thar gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, an analogue dash, and dual airbags amongst other features. The Thar Roxx will be better equipped than the Thar.
